Community colleges are unique ecosystems of transformation. Unlike many larger universities, they prioritize mentorship and hands-on guidance during those critical first two years of higher education. Since 1918, the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society (PTK) has shared this commitment, serving as a catalyst for student success.
At Northeast Texas Community College, the Alpha Mu Chi chapter of Phi Theta Kappa is more than a student organization. It is a five-star, internationally recognized powerhouse. We empower students to leverage their academic talents to solve real-world problems. Whether it’s through leadership roles or community service, PTK encourages students to leave their world, their college, and their community better than they found it.
The results speak for themselves: over the last decade, NTCC PTK members have secured more than $3 million in scholarships. These funds have paved the way for our scholars to become doctors, lawyers, and industry leaders.
Our Impact in Action:
Legacy: To celebrate NTCC’s 40th anniversary, our students produced 40 Years, 40 Stories, a moving video collection capturing the "family" spirit of our campus. View the collection by clicking here
Advocacy: Our award-winning film on accessibility (click to access: To Turn a Blind Eye) has even been utilized as a resource for doctoral research.
Leadership: Experience the moment our very own José Fuentes was named the 2026-2027 PTK International President, and the roar of the crowd of thousands, by clicking here.
While the trophies are plenty, Alpha Mu Chi is about the journey, not just the "win." It’s about the growth, the teamwork, and the discovery of one’s potential. Phi Theta Kappa changes lives. Your support makes that change possible.
