“It is not good for man to be alone.” — Genesis 2:18
The surgeon general has said that loneliness is one of the leading epidemics we are facing in the United States today and is actually worse for you than smoking 15 cigarettes per day yet one in two adults measure significant levels of loneliness.
Loneliness multiplies risk. Disconnection weakens individuals and communities. Isolation fuels vulnerability.
At Our Harbor of Hope we see a city where no one walks alone because ordinary people practice courageous presence, curiosity, kindness and love.
We prioritize meaningful proximity and create space for authentic community with one another. We do this because we are following the most extravagant way God demonstrated his love toward us, through Jesus. And He drew near to us.
At Our Harbor of Hope we are passionate about cultivating communities of belonging so no one has to navigate life alone.
Testimonials
"Legacy Foundations was never meant to stand alone - it was meant to live among people. We chose The Harbor because healing, doesn't happen in isolation, it happens in community. When you place purpose in an environment where connection, accountability, and belonging already exist, you don't just build a program... you build a future." - SH, co-founder of Legacy Foundations, Residential Therapeutic Home for Boys
"Mentoring other single moms who are where I was when I was raising my son alone has been so redeeming for me. I didn't realize how much healing would be available to me by becoming a mentor for single moms, but it has been! I have also found so much of a community that I was looking for." - CS, a Mentor Mom within our SHINE Community for Single Moms
"I have loved getting to come and be my full fun self with these communities! All of my life I was told I can't do this or do that or be this or be that...I feel like I have finally found my people who are inviting me to be ME!" - KH, an author, speaker and core volunteer within various Our Harbor of Hope communities
"We're incredibly grateful for places like Our Harbor of Hope that steward their land, facilities and resources to advance God's Kingdom. Their support, especially through our Saturday night gatherings on the property, has given us a meaningful space to pursue Jesus' call to bring His Kingdom into the marketplaces of Tyler and beyond."
