Our mission is to "Feed the hungry and assist the needy in Shelby County". Our motto is "Striving to be the Hands and Heart of Christ in our community."

Shelby County Outreach Ministries has served our community for over 28 years and depends on donations, grants, and fundraisers to operate and serve our community. We operate 4 programs: the Helping Hands Outreach Center, Senior Nutrition Site, Meals on Wheels, and the Unique Boutique. We do our best to help anyone who walks through our doors and needs assistance. Collectively, we deliver meals to homebound seniors, provide meals and learning opportunities for seniors, distribute emergency food boxes, and assist with utilities, medications, doctor/dental visits, and even temporary lodging for those who find themselves homeless. The Unique Boutique resale store helps fund our programs and provides basic household items to those who lost homes due to fire or other disasters. We also provide clothing for those in need. 1 in 7 people, including 1 in 5 children living in East Texas struggle with food insecurity. Approximately 80% of our clients survive on less than $800 monthly. With your help, we can continue to help clients during hard times. Together, we can make a difference.

Testimonials

There are too many stories to be told, but we have seen children and adults overjoyed and in tears because of the food we provided. We assisted one client who lived far in the woods and had a tent, no utilities, and was diabetic. We also provided a way for them to see a doctor. Because of our efforts, the client received the help needed to stay alive.

There have been numerous clients who have seen us in town and stopped us to say thanks. We helped some with utility bills, medications, doctor visits, and even temporary lodging due to homelessness.
