Building Freedom and Restoring Independence right here in East Texas

Every day, simple steps can become impossible barriers.

The Texas Ramp Project (TRP) is changing that—one home, one family, one life at a time. We provide safe, custom-built wheelchair ramps at no cost to low-income older adults and people with disabilities, restoring mobility, dignity, and independence.

Each ramp begins with a referral from a healthcare provider and ends with a team of dedicated volunteers building more than just a structure—they’re building freedom.

Since 1985, TRP has constructed over 32,000 ramps across Texas. Placed end to end, that’s 139 miles of access and opportunity—farther than the drive from Dallas to Waco. But the real impact isn’t measured in miles. It’s measured in moments:

  • A grandmother stepping outside to feel the sun again
  • A veteran regaining access to critical medical care
  • A spouse no longer risking injury to help a loved one navigate stairs

In 2025 alone, volunteers built over 2,800 ramps statewide, including 300+ right here in East Texas— each one a lifeline for someone in need.

The impact goes beyond the individual. Families gain peace of mind. Caregivers find relief. Communities grow stronger.

And you can be part of it.

Whether you give, volunteer, or advocate, your support helps remove barriers and restore independence for your neighbors. No construction experience is needed—just a willingness to make a difference.

Together, we’re not just building ramps. We’re building freedom, dignity, and hope.
