Promise of Peace Gardens is building a new 14 acre food farm in Mineola. Funds raised will help cultivate needed tools and materials to grow and educate community members and support our youth interns.
We know that 80 % of diseases today are diet related. We know that one in five children in Texas experience hunger. We also know that our teens spend an average of 9 hours a day watching screens which can lead to serious problems. When you support the Promise of Peace Gardens, you help create healthier lifestyles, food security, and screen free activities for our children and their families. Food gardens are the solution to many of the problems that society faces today.
We now have three food gardens/farms in Mineola. One serves food pantries, one is at the Middle School, and the Sunshine Acres Farm will teach paid youth interns as they engage in life changing experiences on the farm. Sunshine Acres welcomes guests from places near and far and will serve guests with a variety of programs. The farm that will also serve the school cafeteria.
