Historic Tyler, Inc.

About this Organization

Founded in 1977, Historic Tyler, Inc. is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. Since HTI's founding, our organization has undertaken many projects to preserve Tyler's historic landscape. The most notable are the multi-year efforts to designate districts on the National Register of Historic Places. Other preservation projects include: 1881 Jail, PATH headquarters, City of Tyler projects, The Woman's Building, Bergfeld Park, The Mayfair, Cotton Belt Rail Depot, and more.

Our recent publication, An Invitation to Preservation, is a 293-page coffee table book featuring over 80 historic homes in Tyler (for sale at local retailers). Currently, we are in the final phase of the Pollard Residential Historic District nomination. Once approved, Pollard will become the eighth (and largest) National Register district in Tyler.

Held annually each spring since 1981, Historic Tyler on Tour has been our nonprofit organization's largest annual fundraiser. Over 200 homeowners have graciously opened their historic homes to the public to showcase the benefits and beauty of historic preservation.
