Conifer Area Properties
About this Organization
Conifer Area Properties was founded to protect and maintain the legacies of two former Girl Scout camps: Camp Karlton Kemp in Texarkana, Arkansas and Camp High Point in Mena, Arkansas. The Girl Scouts decided to close the two camps in 2016, but thanks to careful foresight and planning, the camps were saved. To ensure the camps would continue to be used for the intended purpose for which they were donated, the local Conifer Area Council formed Conifer Area Properties as a property holding organization when they feared the Girl Scouts might try to sell the properties. The camps are now available to anyone for rent, but they are especially intended for youth organizations, who are able to rent the properties at a discounted rate. Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Trail Life USA, American Heritage Girls and K.I.D.S. Day Camp (a camp for kids with diabetes) all use our properties for camping, service activities and leadership development. We are largely dependent upon donations so that we can continue offering our properties to these youth organizations.
