$5,000 Goal

Caddo Lake has been here for thousands of years — but its future depends on what we do right now. The cypress trees, the migratory birds, the clean water that families and wildlife depend on — none of it is guaranteed without people who care enough to act. You can be one of those people today!

This Giving Day, your gift to the Caddo Lake Institute means the work continues — the monitoring, the restoration, the protection of something truly irreplaceable.

Give today, for the lake & for the future generations to come.

WHAT DO WE DO?

Restoring the Flows That Keep Caddo Lake Alive

A healthy lake needs healthy water flows — the right amount of water, at the right time, moving in the right way. For decades, natural flow patterns in Caddo Lake's watershed have been disrupted, threatening the wildlife, wetlands, and communities that depend on them.

Since 2004, the Caddo Lake Institute has led the Environmental Flows Project — working with scientists, landowners, and state and federal agencies to restore the natural rhythms that Caddo Lake needs to thrive. Your gift helps keep that long-term work going.

Protecting Against Foreign Invaders

Caddo Lake is a delicate ecosystem — and for years, invasive plants and animals have been quietly threatening it. Species like hydrilla, water hyacinth, and giant salvinia can spread rapidly, choking out native plants and disrupting the wildlife that calls the lake home.

The Caddo Lake Institute works hand-in-hand with local communities and state agencies in Texas and Louisiana to fight back — through public education, hands-on research, and coordinated action. Your support helps us stay ahead of the threat and protect the lake we all love.

Cleaning Up Caddo Lake's Backyard

Just steps from Caddo Lake sits the former Longhorn Army Ammunition Plant — a site that left behind decades of contamination in the soil and water. The Caddo Lake Institute has been on the ground advocating for the community, helping local residents understand the cleanup process and making sure their voices are heard in decisions that affect their land and their lake.

We believe a healthy Caddo Lake starts with a clean watershed — and that means holding the cleanup process accountable every step of the way.

Your support helps us stay at the table for the community.
