Black Beauty Ranch

As one of the largest and most diverse animal sanctuaries in the United States, Black Beauty Ranch is part of Humane World for Animals, formerly called the Humane Society of the United States. Located in Murchison, Texas, our 1,400‑acre sanctuary provides a permanent, safe haven for more than 600 domestic and exotic animals representing over 40 species. Residents are rescued from research laboratories, traveling shows, the pet trade, roadside zoos, and other situations involving cruelty or neglect. Among them are tigers, bears, primates, kangaroos, bison, horses, farm animals, and many others. Black Beauty Ranch is accredited by the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries and is a proud member of both the Big Cat Sanctuary Alliance and the North American Primate Sanctuary Alliance—recognition that reflects our commitment to excellence in animal care and welfare.

This year, we are working to raise $5,000 in support of our core mission. Your generosity directly enhances the lives of the animals in our care—providing nutritious diets, state‑of‑the‑art veterinary treatment, exceptional husbandry, ongoing habitat improvements, and individualized enrichment that supports their well‑being. Every contribution helps us deliver the high standard of care they deserve. Our approach to animal well‑being centers on creating opportunities for each resident to thrive under sanctuary care. Many of the animals who arrive here have never experienced freedom of choice, so we prioritize giving them autonomy, enriched environments, and the ability to express natural behaviors. Our goal is not simply for animals to survive, but to flourish.
