Preservation Texas
About this Organization
Founded in 1985, Preservation Texas is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to providing a range of statewide preservation programs. We protect historic places through direct investments, grants, and by empowering people and organizations through advocacy, collaboration, and education.
In a state as vast as Texas, regional field offices enable Preservation Texas to have a more direct and sustained impact. To date, Preservation Texas has established three regional field offices, staffed with full-time employees in Central Texas (San Marcos), Northeast Texas (Tyler), and West Texas (El Paso).
Preservation Texas is diligently working to increase its presence in Northeast Texas which began with the opening of the Tyler office in 2023. Catalytic projects in the region include the 1939 Linden Fire Station which PT is rehabilitating into a short term vacation rental as part of its Heritage Lodging program, and the development of Potter's Point Conservancy on Lake Caddo which is an important archeological site from the Republic of Texas era. PT's investment in ETX includes a $750,000 rural heritage grant program primarily in Northeast Texas.
