The Greater East Texas National Black Leadership Initiative on Cancer is now engaged in finding and promoting accessible mental health services for the underserved community. Support mental health awareness in underserved communities.
Our HISTORY:
The Greater East Texas Chapter of the National Black Leadership Initiative on Cancer was formed in 1992 to address the disproportionate burden of cancer in the African American community. The NBLIC now works to help erase health disparities in the East Texas community.
OUR VISION:
To be an advocate for improved physical and mental health in the East Texas community. We envision: “Healthy People Living in Healthy Communities”
OUR MISSION:
To provide a network that will educate, enrich, and empower the East Texas community through increased awareness, advocacy, and actions that promote health.
OUR GOAL:
To eliminate health disparities in the East Texas community. The NBLIC is a non-profit organization recognized by the IRS as a 501c3.
Our Current Initiatives Include:
MHC: The East Texas Mental Health Collaborative is a network of local organizations, mental health professionals, advocates, and community leaders united by a shared mission to improve mental health outcomes across East Texas.
MHIET: The Minority Health Initiative of East Texas is a network that provides client and caregiver support for those experiencing chronic diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, dementia, mental illness, sickle cell disease, and others.
