For the Sake of One

For the Sake of One is a Texarkana-based nonprofit dedicated to strengthening families, supporting caregivers, and preventing children from entering the foster care system. Since 2017, we have served families across Northeast Texas and Southwest Arkansas by stepping into crisis situations and offering hope, stability, and connection.

Because no family should feel alone in their hardest moments.

We walk alongside foster, adoptive, kinship, and struggling biological families, meeting both practical and deeply personal needs. While we provide tangible support like food, gas, beds, and car seats, our work goes far beyond that. We address the social and emotional needs that are often at the root of family instability—helping caregivers feel seen, supported, and not alone in their journey.

Through our Building Healthy Families program—a preventative, relationship-based program—we come alongside at-risk families before crises escalate or system involvement becomes necessary. Rooted in trauma-informed care, we build trust, provide encouragement, and equip parents with tools to create safe, healthy homes—walking with them not just in moments of crisis, but over time as they heal and grow.

We also create spaces where families experience true community. Through support groups, caregivers find connection with others who understand their challenges. Our Parents Night Out events provide rest and renewal for caregivers while their children are cared for in a safe, fun, and trusted environment—helping prevent burnout and sustain families for the long term.

At the heart of our work is a unique role: we bridge the gap between the child welfare system and the local church. We mobilize churches and community members to meet real needs and build meaningful relationships with families—ensuring they are surrounded by ongoing support, not just one-time assistance.

Our impact extends beyond families. We are deeply committed to supporting frontline caseworkers, offering encouragement and resources to those navigating complex and demanding roles. We also operate the only supervised visitation center within an 80-mile radius, providing a safe, welcoming environment where children and parents can maintain and rebuild connection—often helping preserve and restore families.

Through every program and partnership, we are working to ensure that no family has to walk through crisis alone.
