I believe that WE CARE Palestine can truly make a difference in our Greater Palestine area by neighbors to neighbor both where they live and across the area. One WE CARE Block Leader Julie and her husband Wayne said they didn't know many of the neighbors and didn't take time to visit them. After training with WE CARE, Julie put a table out in front of her house and began sitting out there, drinking and speaker to those who walked by. Before long she and Wayne took out invitations for a party around the front yard table. Around the table, the neighbors got know each other. Months later, one of the neighbors wife died. Because Wayne knew this neighbor, Wayne reached out to visit him, often taking him to lunch. The neighbor was so appreciative, he nominated Wayne for the Good Neighbor award. Block Leaders MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

The mission of WE CARE Palestine is to initiate and foster positive, caring relationships in neighborhoods and across the Greater Palestine area. We accomplish this by three proven stategies: 1) reminding and encouraging people to be caring and offering examples of caring neighbors; 2) re-connecting neighbors in neighborhoods by the Block Leader in that neighborhood; and 3) the Friendship House strategy for under-resourced areas of the city. Research shows that building healthy, connected neighborhoods has long-term positive impact on issues like education and crime rates, as well physical and mental health.
