Museum of East Texas

A nonprofit organization

The Museum of East Texas enriches and educates the diverse communities of East Texas through the celebration and exploration of art. The Museum is committed to providing inclusive access to dynamic exhibitions, educational programs, and creative experiences that inspire lifelong learning.

The Museum was founded in 1976 so that the people, especially the children, of deep East Texas would have exposure to culturally enriching experiences without having to travel to major cities. We are committed to providing outstanding exhibitions and art education experiences for all with no admission fee. Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors and membership, we have been able to keep our doors open to all for free, as well as provide four art activity events in our building annually for no charge. While the Museum is well known for our summer Art Camp and Festival of Trees during the holidays, we have exhibitions year-round as well as classes for ages 1 to 99 for a nominal fee. We are proud of our past almost 50 years in the community and look forward to a bright future ahead.
