Women's Shelter of East Texas, Inc. dba Family Crisis Center of East Texas

The Janelle Grum Family Crisis Center of East Texas is a non-profit organization that empowers survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault by providing crisis intervention and advocacy services. The FCCET also engages the community through education to build awareness and prevent domestic violence and sexual assault. Since 1979, FCCET's vision has been to end the culture of domestic violence and sexual assault and empower survivors. We provide confidential, non-judgmental services that are holistic/comprehensive, victim-centered, trauma-informed, and family-focused, with compassion and respect for every person served. Core values are safety, empowerment, selflessness and integrity.

Free, confidential help and information are available to women, men and families. With outreach offices in Lufkin, Nacogdoches, Crockett and San Augustine, the Family Crisis Center serves anyone in East Texas and beyond who is experiencing violence or loves someone who is experiencing abuse. In 2024, the agency served 687 adults and 537 child survivors aged 0 to 17, each one facing their own journey of healing. Shelter nights totaled 11,986 from the 310 residential clients seeking safety.

When families arrive at the Family Crisis Center of East Texas, it's often a tumultuous time, especially for the little ones. But with your support, every child can have access to the tools of childhood - games, toys, and creative outlets - that offer comfort and distraction during their stay. The recent addition of an indoor play space and meeting area is giving survivors more freedom and an outlet to reduce stress.
